Ossett Town Junior Football Club is a volunteer football club providing football development opportunities for boys, girls and women. The club is affiliated to the West Riding County FA and is a Charter Standard Community Club. We have over 350 children who participate in the football club across age groups from under 5s to under 17s. Each year we take on a new intake into our U5s – minimum age is 4 at 1 September in each season — no previous football experience is necessary. We also take on new older players subject to availability in each age group.
Each age group is run by the parents of the boys and girls in each respective team. An Age Group Manager is appointed by the Junior Management Committee and if not already qualified, will attend an FA coaching course. Additional coaches will be appointed and trained as necessary. Age group parents’ assistance is required to generally help set-up for matches, run a tuck-shop or arrange fundraising events. Everyone who helps does so on a voluntary basis – even the manager and coaches. All of our coaches are FA qualified and every three years will attend a Safeguarding and First Aid course and undergo a Criminal Record Check.
Players pay monthly subscriptions and a yearly registration fee to help provide funds for pitches and affiliations. In terms of games, the under 5s cannot not play games until the age of six due to FA guidelines. From u7 upwards teams will enter a league, currently Huddersfield league.
The managers of each team meet every two months as a management committee to deal with the management of the overall junior section and deal with any issues arising. Each year (usually in July) there is an Annual General Meeting for all parents/guardians of players to elect club officials and approve any changes to the club’s rules or constitution.
Ossett Town Juniors prides itself on offering enjoyable sporting activity for boys, girls and women with a particular focus on fun!
